Your friend is thinking about learning to drive and would like some advice.Write a letter to your friend in your letter -say why a driving letter is advantageous -recommend a driving school -give any extra guidance/tips

How are you doing? I hope that you are doing great and your kids are
also
making great progress. It’s been a long time since you have visited my home. I just want to let you know that recently, I cleared my behind the wheel driving test at Poway and am feeling quite relaxed after getting my driving licence. I can not hold myself until I share
this
news with you that I have cleared the test in my
first
attempt. I am very much thankful to you for the help and support to teach me driving skills.
Initially
, I was looking for a driving school or an independent instructor to learn driving and at the same time, I had asked many friends before you to help me to drive a car. I knew that you were super busy and your wife was pregnant with your
second
kid, but you have helped me. Still, I remember that your family moved from India and we had rented a car for almost 3 months. During that time, you were my instructor and we used to go on long drives and had great lunch at Board and Brew each weekend. We used to have open discussions on these driving rules. It is very hard for me to find words to express my gratitude. So, please accept a little gift from me for your younger son. I hope that he would love to play with
this
nice remote car. I had been thinking of coming to your place for the
last
six months and handing over
this
in person. Because of the nature of my job, it has been immensely difficult to make a trip for a week. I hope that you will forgive me for not visiting your place. I am extremely lucky to have a friend like you in my life who always checks and shares experiences of personal life too. It is always good to know that I am surrounded by helpful and companionable people like yourself. I take pride in our friendship. Please keep in touch and take care of yourself and your family.

The Greeting

Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.

Always start an informal letter in the ways:

  • Dear + name
  • Hi / Hello + name

‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.

For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:

  • Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
  • Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
