You have just finished your master’s degree and need to leave your current part-time job to search for full-time employment. Write a letter to your current employer. In your letter: – explain why you will not be able to pursue a full-time job in his/her company – say why you’ve enjoyed working for him/her – tell him/her how much longer you will continue to work for him/her.
Dear Sir/ Madam,
My name is Shreya bearing an employee id- 34567 ,and I am a part-time employee of your esteemed organization. I am writing
this
letter to inform you that I would not be able to continue with this
part-time job.
I had a discussion with my current reporting manager regarding a full-time opportunity here. However
, it will be difficult for me to pursue the same mainly for two reasons. Firstly
, I want to return back to my native place and stay closer to my family. Secondly
, I am planning to change my job profile from project management to the data science domain. Hence
, I will have to let go of the golden opportunity to continue working here.
Nevertheless
, I should acknowledge the fact that I thoroughly enjoyed working here for 11 months. Its been an awesome learning experience. Furthermore
, the seniors are extremely supportive, and they are always ready to embrace new suggestions or ideas.
Nonetheless
, I would like to inform you that as per the contract I will serve the notice period for 30 days. Therefore
, my last
working day should be on 30th October. In addition
to that, I would like to request that if it is possible for you to provide with all the relevant releasing documents on my last
day at work.
I believe you have my contact details. If you need any further
information, please reach out to me.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
ShreyaSubmitted by abhinaba.de on

Structure your letter
A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:
- A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
- The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
- A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)
When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.
All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
