More and more people want to buy famous brands of clothes, cars and other items. What are the reasons? Do you think it is a positive or negative development?

I think the primary reason for that phenomenon is the emergence of capitalism. The influence of capitalism is pervasive in the present day. None of us can deny how does it affect us in our daily life.
Moreover
, it
also
shapes our perception of branded goods. In the past, people only buy what they needed rather than what they wanted. If the price of the product tremendously surpassed the cost of it, no one will think
that is
worthwhile to purchase.
Nonetheless
, as time goes on, luxurious goods are considered a symbol of social status. Even though the cost performance of fashionable items doesn’t meet our expectations, many people will still snap up these products to highlight their taste or purchasing power. As more advertisements brainwash our value toward well-known brands, more people will be indulged in purchasing items beyond our affordability. I think, as time passes, the fetishism of commodity will become a major social problem. Human beings are alienated. We will lose our ability to be in charge of our own decision. Capitalism will hijack our view of commodities. By far, I haven’t think of any possibility to reverse
this
trend.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
