You are shifting out of your accommodation. You think your current place of residence is suitable for your English speaking colleague who is arriving next month. Write a letter to your colleague. Explain why you are shifting out Describe your accommodation Explain why it is suitable for your friend
Dear Ms Smith,
I am writing to inform you that I am shifting out my current accommodation in
this
College. Therefore
, as I heard you have been looking for a new apartment to stay in, I strongly believe it would be suitable for you since it is a calm and comfortable place to study.
Truthfully, I am only moving out because I have been working as a waitress in a restaurant downtown, as a part-time job, and it is far away from our campus. Thus
, I am arriving very late every night, which has been making me feel exhausted.
Even though the accommodation is a tiny place, it has a breathtaking view of the lake by the campus and brand new furniture. It contains a double bed, a wardrobe, a small kitchen with the most important utilities and a nice bathroom on the inside. Moreover
, the room is also
close to the park, as it is located on the second
floor over the library.
Therefore
, I think it will be a very suitable place for you since you will be able to reach anything you need from the approach. Furthermore
, the neighbours from the rooms beside it are really friendly.
If you have any questions or requests, you might reach me by phone at 7895326352. I am available every weekday in the afternoon.
I look forward to your reply.
Best regards,

Structure your letter
A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:
- A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
- The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
- A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)
When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.
All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
