Some people believe that companies and individuals, rather than governments, should pay to clean up the pollution they have caused. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Nowadays, environmental problems are greatly affecting our lives in so many aspects. Few sections of society suggest
companies
and individuals should be held accountable for paying to eliminate pollution
. Personally, I disagree with this
view, as I believe governments
should be the first
to address this
issue, and everyone else should take responsibility for environmental protection
as well.
Firstly
, I believe that companies
and individuals should not be forced to pay for cleaning up pollution
since their ability to do so is limited. I doubt that if this
would actually work and the result is really questionable. Secondly
, since cleaning up pollution
requires a huge amount of money, if we force citizens and local companies
to invest, which would have a negative influence on occupants' income and savings, resulting in resentment and complaints among the occupants, which would lead to a counterproductive and adverse result eventually. However
, I do believe either companies
or citizens must stay accountable for environmental protection
. By putting effort into cleaning up streets or reusing and recycling as much as possible, they do help to reduce pollution
to some extent.
I believe the national government should take responsibility for prioritizing to reduce pollution
. The first
reason is that governments
have a huge impact and tons of money. If let them take charge, they are sure can do something which is more effective on environmental protection
. In addition
, the result would be much effective and better if let governments
take charge, instead
of forcing individuals to pay for the cleanup action. For example
, governments
could invest in renewable resources, such
as solar, wind, water power to eliminate the impact on the decreasing of fossil energy. They could also
encourage people to use more less-packaging products to reduce waster on a daily basis. The outcome would be more significant and certainly would help to build a better environment for the next
generation.
In conclusion, governments
should be the first
in taking charge of environmental protection
. However
, everyone must play their part for our planet as well.Submitted by 454384208 on
