I'm travelling out of town for an important business meeting. I tried to convince my client to postpone

meeting, but he was not ready to do so.
This
means that I'll be travelling on the night of your event. I'm really sorry for not getting in touch with you sooner and letting you know at the

hour. I was expecting that he would understand my position. To my surprise, he was not flexible to make the alterations. I really thought that my schedule would change and I would join you for the party. Anyway, I will be back two days after your anniversary and was hoping to catch up with you

Use a variety of complex and simple sentences

You should use complex sentences in your writing, but it does not mean that you should try to make all of our sentences complex.

‘Complex’ sentences are not actually very complex; they are just two or more simple sentences put together. Putting them together makes the essay more coherent and cohesive.

Examples:

I really want to study but I’m too tired.

I wore a warm coat because the weather was cold.

If action is not taken soon on climate change, global warming will get worse.
