Recently you noticed that the waste (garbage) disposal in your area is creating problems. Write a letter complaining about the situation to the environment officer. * The time of waste pickup. * What is the problem with the waste. * Suggest solution to the problem.

Dear Sir/ Madam
This
is Sahar Mokhtari, one of the residents in the area of Green Bay, California. I am writing
this
letter to inform you regarding the way the state disposes of the
waste
in my area of residence due to myriads of problems that it has caused for both citizens and particularly the environment. According to the statement that was declared by the
waste
-collecting company, residents have to keep their
trash
in large
garbage
bins that have been considered for each accommodation and transfer the bins to the sidewalk of the streets between 9-10 PM on Saturdays and Wednesdays every week, so that the
waste
disposal trucks would collect them after 10 PM and take all of the rubbish to landfills outside the city.
However
, there is a wide spectrum of insurmountable hassle in terms of
waste
collection that I would like to mention.
Firstly
, the trucks do not arrive on a frequent basis and most of the weeks, they just collect the
garbage
either on Saturday or Wednesday, not both.
This
issue has led to the accumulation of domestic
garbage
so much so that it does not fit into the bins anymore and individuals have to keep a part of their
trash
in plastic bags
next
to the baskets, rather than inside it. Animals like cats tend to tear down these plastic bags and the entire

is polluted by the scattered pieces of litter all over streets and alleys.
Secondly
, a medical clinic is
also
in the vicinity of some dwellings in my
neighborhood

and the
waste
collection system of the contaminated
garbage
of
this
clinic is mutual with domestic
trash
.
This
, clearly, causes a lot of environmental problems both in the Green Bay area and in the landfill where normal
waste
is disposed of. I vehemently concede that your department must take urgent measures to address
such
trouble as soon as possible.
Trash
collection companies must be fined and warned to collect the
waste
according to the predetermined days and time to avoid the accumulation of too much litter where people and animals live.
In addition
, environmental organizations, like yours, must be held responsible to assign other places for getting rid of hospital and medical
waste
that can be extremely toxic and harmful for people's health and separate it from domestic ones to prevent the upcoming environmental upheavals. I am looking forward to your urgent steps. Kind Regards Sahar Mokhtari

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 150 words in writing task 1. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long letter will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 160 to 190 words in writing task 1. This will ensure a concise letter and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 20 minutes to write the letter and you need around 5 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long letter in 15 minutes.
