Some schools start teaching a foreign language in primary school years. Do the advantages of teaching foreign languages to young children outweigh its disadvantages?
Nowadays,learning a new
language
has become very important. However
,many people believe that learning foreign languages
from a young age
can lead to many problems. In my opinion, the great effects of teaching foreign languages
are much more important.
First
, we can mention three disadvantages of teaching foreign languages
to young children
. The first
problem is the language
disorder of children
when they have to learn many languages
at an early age
. Children
may feel confused and find it difficult to distinguish between their native language
and a foreign one. For example
, some children
cannot differentiate between their mother tongue and the other languages
to communicate with people. In addition
, learning more foreign languages
will cost parents a large amount of money on extra study. Another problem is that children
will not have much time to relax. Youngsters at an early age
also
need a lot of time to play and interact with the outside world in order to have a complete childhood.
On the other hand
, besides
the disadvantages mentioned above, the benefits from getting acquainted with a foreign language
from a young age
bring greater good. Although
learning foreign languages
at an early age
can lead to language
disorders, children
can become more intelligent. Adults can actively communicate with children
to teach them how to distinguish which language
to use in different circumstances. Moreover
, investing in children
means preparing for the future . And finally
, since children
are growing, playing is just as important as learning. For example
, parents should actively arrange separate study and playtime for their children
. Parents can use going out as a reward for their children
to try harder to learn. If families can do these things for their children
, surely the youngsters will learn the language
earlier to become smarter and have better language
skills.
In conclusion,learning a foreign language
from an early age
can lead to some problems, but with the aforementioned arguments, the advantages surely outweigh the pitfalls. In my opinion, it makes perfect sense to learn a foreign language
at an early age
