You are going to study in a college in the UK next year. You would like to stay in a college Hall of Residence. Write a letter to the college. In your letter explain your accommodation requirements explain what your food needs are ask what alternatives are available if they cannot provide what you want

Dear sir or madam I am writing to inform you that I am going to be part of your school early
next
week. In that case, I would like to stay in the residence's college hall.
Furthermore
, I would like to know if you had single rooms on offer since I prefer more privacy rather than sharing a room with someone else. It would be an added advantage if I get permission to cook my own food because I'm allergic to a variety of food ad spices. If you could to meet my basic need are there any other alternatives available for me like having some houses within the walkable distance to the college with reasonable prices so that I could rent. I am looking forward to your response as soon as you can. Yours faithfully Praise Danai Kufakwedeke

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 150 words in writing task 1. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long letter will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 160 to 190 words in writing task 1. This will ensure a concise letter and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 20 minutes to write the letter and you need around 5 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long letter in 15 minutes.
