Some educationalists think that international exchange visits will benefit teenagers at the school. To what extend do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

In recent years, the trend for global
exchange
school programs has been increasing.
Students
are now able to visit other places under
this
school program.
This
has led to some teachers believing that
this
is of great benefit to the
students
. In
this
essay, I will discuss its advantages and disadvantages. International
exchange
visits have been a great learning source for teenagers.
One
of the advantages of it is that they will be able to
experience
the culture of the place and will have deep knowledge of its history.
For example
,
students
will be able to visit historical places and museums in that place. Another advantage is that
students
will be able to interact with other
students
from that place and will develop more friends.
Lastly
, they will be able to
experience
situations they won't be able to
experience
if they do not travel.
For instance
, teenagers travelling alone to a new school and new environment have to
experience
hardships
such
as settling and fitting in while finishing their courses.
This
undoubtedly will enable them to develop many attributes
such
as independence, communication and interpersonal skills. With
this
given, there are some drawbacks of an international student
exchange
. The
first
drawback is the language barrier,
one
issue of
exchange
programs is that most of the courses taught are in the other country's local language.
Hence
,
this
will cause issues in learning the course and communicating with others as well. Feeling lonely is
one
of the reasons why being an international student in an
exchange
program is difficult. It may impact how
one
can interact with others
thus
making it hard for them to meet new people. To conclude, being in an international educational
exchange
program is a great journey that yields not only educational purposes but more importantly a great potential for self-development and socializing.
Therefore
, all
students
must be encouraged to apply and join if given the chance.

Support ideas with relevant, specific examples

Examples make your writing easier to understand by illustrating points more effectively.

Examples, if used properly, not only help you get higher marks for ‘Task Response’ but also for ‘Coherence’.

When giving examples it is best to put them after your main idea or topic sentence. They can be used in the middle of supporting sentences or they can be used to start a new sentence. There is no rule for where exactly to give examples in essays, logically they would come after your main idea/topic sentence or just after a supporting sentence.

Linking words for giving examples:

  • for example
  • for instance
  • to illustrate this
  • to give a clear example
  • such as
  • namely
  • to illustrate
  • take, for example
