You study at a university and often use the university library. The library closes very early in the evening and you are not able to stay there and study. Write a letter to the Manager of the library. In the letter, Describe who you are and the details of your university course Explain the problem at the library Suggest what you think the Manager should do
Good morning Library manager,
Hope you are doing well. I am a Master's degree student studying Bioengineering at the University of Cambridge. My degree is based on research. I am working on coursework and the title is a comparison of plastic and high-density plastic usage in-hospital testing kits. I have to do my literature review and need to read many resources ,especially books, and academic journals which have been converted into electronic books located on the ground floor.
Now the library works from 9 am to 5pm and it is 8 hours. I would like to request to close at 8pm and extend 3 hours. Because every day my lectures and seminars finished at 5 pm
then
cannot access the facility.
Therefore
, could you please close the library at eight clocks based on my request? I am sure there are some students like me.
Thank you for your considering my request. I am looking forward to replying to you soon.
Kind regards,

The Greeting
Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.
Always start an informal letter in the ways:
- Dear + name
- Hi / Hello + name
‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.
For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:
- Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
- Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
