Some people say that success is 10 percent talent and 90 percent hard work. Is hard work now the key to success, or is talent also important? Give reason for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

There has been a controversy about whether the importance of talent outweighs hard
work
. I think hard
work
is more essential, and my reasons will be explained in the following paragraphs.
First
,
talents
might help you achieve success easier, but hard
work
is the foremost factor. Take NBA as an example. As we know, there are hundreds and thousands of talented players in the NBA; but only a few can become all-stars, and only a small number of them can become superstars. The reason behind it is that those great players tend to be more self-disciplined than most players.
For instance
, Lebron James is well-known for his brilliant talent;
nevertheless
, what renders him to become a superstar is perseverance and hard
work
. At
this
point, it can be said that great
talents
can increase the probability of making success, but hard
work
is the prerequisite for everything.
Second
,
talents
can bring arrogance, and hard
work
can bring wisdom. Take a Chinese educational story as an example. There was a child with substantial
talents
. His parents were unlettered, but he could read and write good poems. His father thought it might be a chance to earn some money;
hence
, he didn't let his son study

but parading his intelligence every day.
As a result
of not studying,
this
child had gradually become an ordinary kid. In
this
case,
this
story shows the magnitude of hard
work
to a large extent.
Third
, people need to understand that
talents
don't guarantee success; only hard
work
does.
For instance
, Albert Einstein was famous for his
talents
, and his IQ was 200.
Nevertheless
, he didn't rest on his laurels
,

but made a significant contribution to the development of human civilization. His
work
,
such
as Special relativity, has propelled the improvement of modern science. In conclusion,
although
talents
are vital, I think hard
work
is of utmost importance.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
