You have seen an advertisement in an Australian Magazine for someone to live with a family for six months and look after their six-years old Child. Write a letter to the parents, in your letters • Explain why you would like the job • Give details of why you would be a suitable person to employ • Say how you would spend your free time while you are in Australia

Dear Sir I am writing
this
letter in reference to your advertisement for the position of caretaker for your 6-year-old kid. I am currently working in Swiss for an Irish family taking care of their two
children
. I was unaware of how rewarding it is to take care of
children
before I took the job. As an enthusiastic and friendly person, I get along well with the
children
and would love to spend time with them. I have an experience of 10 years of caretaking similar age group
children
and I can
also
assist them with their studies. I am a trainer painter and I can teach the
children
the art of painting and craft making. I have good culinary skills and I pay special attention to the health of the
children
and the family. As a traveller-loving person, I would like to travel to different parts of the world and explore the culture. I would like to spend my free time surfing with the locals and master my painting skill. I can
also
get a reference letter from my current employer if needed. I look forward to hearing from you. yours sincerely Hari Vignesh

The Greeting

Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.

Always start an informal letter in the ways:

  • Dear + name
  • Hi / Hello + name

‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.

For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:

  • Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
  • Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
