Write a letter to a friend
I hope you are doing great. Thank you for agreeing to house-sit for me. During my holiday, I will be in Lusaka, Zambia. Feel free to contact me on my mobile numbers :0775546425/0716979980 or via email: [email protected] if you need me for anything. I am writing to give you some information which I believe would help you stay at my place. My dog needs to be fed twice daily so each morning and evening put a cup full of dog food in her bowl. You will find the food in the kitchen pantry. Please check and see she has fresh drinking water throughout the day, you can give her a small bowl of milk in the evenings.
Also
, don't forget to bath her preferably once every other day so that she doesn't stink. Apparently, you can take her outside each evening for a walk. I would like you to water my plants too. The ones by the veranda can be watered once every two days. You are welcome to use things in my house as if they were yours. Finally
, for security reasons, please keep the outside lights on at night, make sure the doors and windows are closed and locked from inside. Don't forget to switch off the lights in the morning.Submitted by marthapriscandhlovu on

The Greeting
Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.
Always start an informal letter in the ways:
- Dear + name
- Hi / Hello + name
‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.
For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:
- Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
- Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
