Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and polution problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree? What other measures do you think might be effective?
It is a saying that higher
price
of petrol
is the best solution to tackle the increasing traffic
and pollution
problems
. I totally disagree with it, and this
essay will explain why and gives my opinion about other effective measures.
There are several reasons why increasing the price
of petrol
is not the best way to solve these problems
. The first
thing is that the volume of traffic
will not have a significant decrease due to the high petrol
price
. If petrol
becomes higher, people
would like to choose electrical cars
, which means the number of cars
will not decline. Hence
, it will not solve growing traffic
. Secondly
, the main resource of pollution
is not cars
. When gasoline's price
is higher, people
could disuse their cars
, for instance
, they may choose electrical cars
or public transportation, whereas it only has a fewer influence, because the pollution
from automobile emissions is not the main pollution
.
However
, we can use other methods to solve these problems
. On the one hand, we can improve the city's public transportation. People
do not like it, because it is not reliable and makes people
feel uncomfortable due to exploring an unclean environment. If public transport is improved, people
will choose more public transport, which means there will be less traffic
on the road, and traffic
congestion will be alleviated. On the other hand
, the government should restrict pollution
from factories. For example
, the government can issue laws to strictly limit the pollution
of factories.Pollution
from factories is much more than others, if it can be controlled under a reasonable standard, it will significantly reduce the global total pollution
.
In conclusion, increasing the price
of petrol
can not effectively solve traffic
congestion and pollution
, and the above two problems
can be effectively alleviated through public transportation and factory pollution
control.Submitted by charlessung.hk on
