You have been living in a rental apartment for the past year. Recently a new neighbour moved in who has loud parties several times a week. Write a letter complaining about this to the landlord. In your letter: explain the situation describe why it bothers you suggest a solution Begin your letter as follows: Dear Mr / Ms _____________,

Dear Mr Brown, How have you been? My appologies for the delayed payment
last
month. I appreciate your forgiveness. I am writing to you to let you know about the noise that a new neighbour makes. I would like you to deal with it shortly. Let me explain how annoyed I have been by the new resident. The guy who recently moved
next
door hosts loud parties several times a week. He always invites at least 5 people and makes a noise through the night. Because of that, I can't sleep well. Bad sleep affects my performance at work. I want you to alarm him that other residents have complaints about the noise. If he didn't change his mind, please not let him bring anyone to
this
building. Hopefully,
this
situation will be solved immediately. Thank you in advance. Yours sincerely, Hana Smith

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 150 words in writing task 1. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long letter will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 160 to 190 words in writing task 1. This will ensure a concise letter and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 20 minutes to write the letter and you need around 5 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long letter in 15 minutes.
