Dear Sir. I am writing
this
letter to provide you with my house and pet details.
First
of all, thank you for agreeing to look for my house. Now, I am providing you with some contact details when I am on summer holiday vacation.
Firstly
, if you cannot connect with me, you can call my sister who lives near our street. I will leave her details on my whiteboard which is placed in the kitchen. Please, do not forget to give food to my dog. He needs his food and meals from time to time.
This
is placed on the counter of our kitchen cupboard. And
also
, can you water my plants? So, I would be happy if you do what I said. Yours faithfully. Mohini Shodmonova.

The Greeting

Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.

Always start an informal letter in the ways:

  • Dear + name
  • Hi / Hello + name

‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.

For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:

  • Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
  • Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
