Write a letter to the government about the lack of sports facilities in your hometown for people of your age. In your letter, you should tell: • what facilities you want • why you want them • what suggestions you can give

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing
this
letter to tell you about the sports facilities in my hometown which need improvements. We need a few items to play Cricket like balls, bats, and wickets and a few safety items like helmets, and knee caps.
In addition
to these, We

to practice for matches as the

we are using now is not proper to run. Not only cricket many students interested in Basketball, but there is no
ground
in our hometown. The main reason for asking for these facilities is there are many students who can really achieve their dream. I hope you have heard
this
news,
last
year two
people
got selected for National Cricket matches from our hometown.
This
achievement really motivated many
people
here to participate in sports. I would
also
like to suggest that, it would be really helpful for
people
if you allocate one full-time coach to
this
academy. So, they can manage all the items and

Also
, by appointing a coach here there will be many
people
who will take coaching here itself rather than going to cities. I hope you would take the necessary action on
this
. Yours faithfully, Rachel Green

The Greeting

Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.

Always start an informal letter in the ways:

  • Dear + name
  • Hi / Hello + name

‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.

For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:

  • Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
  • Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
