Your local council is considering closing a sports and leisure centre that it runs, in order to save money. Write a letter to the local council. In your letter - give details of how you and your friends or family use the centre - explain why the sports and leisure centre is important for the local community - describe the possible effects on local people if the centre closes
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope you are doing fine. I read the news about the sports and leisure centre in the city of
Malden
getting closed permanently starting from the next
month and I am writing this
letter to plead with you not to do the same.
Firstly
, my friends and I, along with many students from Malden
State University, are using this
centre for hosting different social gatherings and activities such
as athletic competitions, hangout sessions on holidays, and celebrations of birthdays. It has become a go-to place for most of us as many indoor attractions are shut off because of the Covid situation.
Secondly
, it really provides us with a platform to get socially connected with the local community of Malden
. People usually like to see the students playing different games such
as basketball and tennis, and therefore
, nearby restaurants are also
having good business during the game nights. If the centre gets closed, all of us will get affected badly because of having no place to perform such
activities, and it may also
affect the city economically.
I would like to kindly request you to reconsider the decision by checking other resources for saving money. We are happy to help by running a survey among the people of Malden
to see how everyone is thinking about this
change.
Yours sincerely,
