A lot of places in the world rely on tourism as a main source of income. Unfortunately, tourism can also be a source of problems if it is not managed correctly. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of tourism in the modern world. Do you think that the benefits of tourism outweigh its drawbacks?

Tourism
is well developed in many
countries
and cities around the world. It is a very profitable source of income, and is
also
a risky business with its attendant problems. Despite the advantages and disadvantages,
tourism
is an important part of the modern world. It is easy to underestimate the scale of
tourism
. Every year about a billion
tourists
travel: 30
tourists
arrive in a new country every
second
.
Such
a large number can be a serious test for unprepared
countries
. Transportation, housing, food, entertainment, security and cleaning are not easy with so many
tourists
.
However
, it gives big advantages:
tourism
allows you to earn a lot of money.
This
is probably the main advantage of
tourism
and the reason why it is so advertised, especially in developing
countries
; hotels, bars, transport, shops and restaurants all need working staff.
Tourism
can help solve the problem of unemployment;
tourism
gives the area a chance to show itself, increasing the level of recognition and prestige in the world. No matter how wonderful the pros are, the disadvantages have always been the other side of the coin:
tourism
can cause environmental damage with the risk of erosion, pollution, loss of natural habitat for animals and forest fires. Even if the majority of
tourists
behave responsibly, a certain number of them will behave in the opposite way; ancient buildings, monuments and temples struggle to cope with increased traffic and suffer from inevitable wear and tear; the commercialization of culture can destroy the soul of some attractions. Local traditions, which have a rich cultural heritage, are reduced to wearing costumes and antics in front of
tourists
in the hope of getting their money;
tourists
sometimes do not show proper respect for local traditions and culture, refuse to follow the standards in dress, drink in public places, behave rudely or inappropriately towards the locals; sometimes
tourism
becomes so important that other forms of income are dropped, and economic dependence begins to form.
This
is normal for the present, but leaves the country vulnerable to crises in the future and could contribute to political upheaval or increase vulnerability to natural disasters.
Tourism
is the ultimate opportunity to earn money and create jobs, but like everything in our lives, everything has a downside. Even so,
tourism
allows people to travel to other
countries
, visit their attractions, and has long been an inseparable part of our modern life.
