overall
perspective, it is readily apparent that hiking, reading and surfing the internet have become significantly more popular during the latest decade.
Hiking, which is by far the most popular activity, started at 20% during the 1980s and has had a steady growth of 20% by every decade finishing at 80% in 2010. In the 1980s, watching TV was the most common activity, with 60%, it continued to increase another 10% until the 2000s, and declined from there, ending roughly at 65% in 2010. Surfing the web, had a 10% growth from the 1980s (5%) to the 2000s (15%). From the 2000s to the 2010s surfing the internet had a sharp growth, sitting at 50% by the end of the time period.
In comparison, the two remaining hobbies, theatre and reading both fluctuated a bit. Theatre started at 50% in the 1980s, dropping down to 30% by the 1990s, and Linking Words
then
rising to 40%, and Linking Words
finally
ending at 45% in 2010. Reading had a 10% incline from 30% in 1980 to 40% in 1990, the trend Linking Words
then
shifted with a sharp decline sitting at 20% by 2000, only to change again rising by a total of 40% during the Linking Words
