Dear Mrs. Barette, I am writing
this
letter, regarding your advertisement in the part-time jobs section in the local newspaper. I would be delighted to work for you at your home whole summer as I will be having my semester break from my course at Middlesex University. I am doing my bachelor's in Computer Science and
according to
my academic calendar, there will be a semester break. Since I love gardening and taking care of plants, it can be a great pleasure for me to enjoy my summers working in the garden. I can cut grass, groom plants and can water them regularly. I am
also
able to extend any other help you require in your home since you are our neighbour. My availability is after 4pm every day in the summer, since in the morning I will be doing some extra courses on Computers. I will be waiting for your reply. Yours Sincerely, Salman

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
