Cities are now expanding; should the government make a better network for public transport or should they build more roads to facilitate car ownership? To what extent do you agree or disagree?

The rapid development of cities, especially metropolitan ones, required the government to create changes and improvements. Lots of
people
are moving from one
place
to another and it leads to the need for better
transport
options. There are views on whether the government should improve the public
transport
system
or they should develop more roads for
car
users.
Although
both statements have their own benefit, I personally agree that modern cities now require a modern public
transportation
system
. For many years,
people
have been using
cars
as their daily
transportation
due to
their flexibility. Especially the busy ones, they could simply move from one city to another without having to wait or blend in with a huge mass of

time, compared to public
transport
. Other than their flexibility, several
cars
also
provide more convenient space to its owner. Starting from its size of seats, room temperature, and
also
other features that are available on the
car
. Some
cars
now have
this
technology to be a "friend" to their owner, and others
also
have the ability to drive on their own, by using the automation mode.
However
, through its massive ownership, the number of
cars
used has created traffic everywhere. At
this
point, public
transportation
could be the solution to solve the problem. By creating

reducing the number of traffic.
People
will no longer depend on their own
car
or other vehicles to
transport
themselves and
this
could only be achieved by making a better integrated public
transport
system
.
Furthermore
, the use of public
transportation
could
also
lead to less carbon emission. Personal
cars
and other vehicles used to contribute more carbon footprint compared to public
transport
.
This
condition would
also
support the global sustainable development goals and help the earth to be a better
place
to live. In conclusion, the use of
cars
may have benefits for
people
due to
their flexibility and comfort.
However
, because of the

such
as traffic and carbon emissions, the government should focus more on creating a better public

system
.

Support ideas with relevant, specific examples

Examples make your writing easier to understand by illustrating points more effectively.

Examples, if used properly, not only help you get higher marks for ‘Task Response’ but also for ‘Coherence’.

When giving examples it is best to put them after your main idea or topic sentence. They can be used in the middle of supporting sentences or they can be used to start a new sentence. There is no rule for where exactly to give examples in essays, logically they would come after your main idea/topic sentence or just after a supporting sentence.

Linking words for giving examples:

  • for example
  • for instance
  • to illustrate this
  • to give a clear example
  • such as
  • namely
  • to illustrate
  • take, for example
