You are taking a course at a local college. The deadline for your project was last week but you haven't finished it. Write a letter to your lecturer. In your letter introduce yourself explain why you haven't handed in the project yet request more time to do it.

Dear Mr John, My name is Chirag and I am a student of your college, studying the Marketing course. I am writing
this
letter to apply for an extension of the course deadline. As you know, The due date of the project is
this
week. I am afraid that I am not able to complete
this
on time as I have been absent from class for almost 10 days
due to
sickness. I am suffering from a fever, and headache and
also
struggling a bit with breathing. I couldn't do anything
besides
lie in bed.
Also
, My doctor has suggested complete bed rest for
this
week. You will see from the records that I never missed a deadline for any assignment so far.
Therefore
, I am requesting an extension of one week in
this
case because I am so behind with my work. I hope you will take my illness into consideration and grant me an extension. Yours sincerely, Chirag

Use a variety of complex and simple sentences

You should use complex sentences in your writing, but it does not mean that you should try to make all of our sentences complex.

‘Complex’ sentences are not actually very complex; they are just two or more simple sentences put together. Putting them together makes the essay more coherent and cohesive.

Examples:

I really want to study but I’m too tired.

I wore a warm coat because the weather was cold.

If action is not taken soon on climate change, global warming will get worse.
