You have a full-time job and are also doing a part-time evening course. You now find that you cannot continue the course. Write a letter to the course tutor. In your letter, describe the situation explain why you cannot continue at this time say what action you would like to take
I am a student attending an evening course on English Communication which started
last
month. I joined this
course to improve my writing and speaking skills which would give me a career boost. As much as I enjoy the sessions, I am unable to cope with the workload of the course along with
my full-time job.
I am currently employed as a software engineer and in most cases, I need to work late or attend meetings. Hence
, I find it difficult to attend classes on time. Additionally
, my daily assignments are pending, so I am unable to learn basic topics on a daily basis.
It would really be helpful if you could provide an extension on the submission dates and give me credits based on the work i
submit even if I miss some classes. I would Change the capitalization
I
also
like to know whether it would be possible to provide a doubt-clearing session any time on the weekend which would help me in my learning.Submitted by meenakshi.rvkmr on

The Greeting
Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.
Always start an informal letter in the ways:
- Dear + name
- Hi / Hello + name
‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.
For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:
- Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
- Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
