Write a letter to you friend how did you spent your weekend?

Hi Dave I hope
this
letter finds you well. How are you? I want to tell you how I spent my
last
weekend. My host Roger and I met his friends at our house
last
week. They are his former colleagues from the army, a married couple from Edmonton. Actually, Annabelle is French and has lived here 19 years, and Claude is from Quebec but he calls himself "Acadian". They are very nice people and their English is almost as good as mine. They were staying here for 3 days and they had a good opportunity to test my fluency. The next morning after they arrived Annabelle invited me to join her to visit a dinosaur valley. These places are called "bad sands" where nothing can be grown unless fossils. Of course, I agreed. For me, as a newcomer, the situation forces me to treat myself as an adult child who tries to discover everything around me.
Moreover
, who wasn`t passionate about dinosaurs in childhood? It was a great chance to change my daily routine. The valley is just a 40-minute drive away from my place which means nothing for Canada. There are lots of historical places
such
as trails through the canyon, a Tyrell museum full of exhibits, famous "hoodoo"-rocks, and very old coal mines. It is located around Drumheller - a small and calm town, which is,
however
, flooded every season by tourists from all over the world. I spent about 4-5 hours just walking around among artefacts which include a few million years of our planet's history. I was impressed again by Canada's wealth. I took a few photos to show you if you are interested. OK
then
, I need to finish at
this
time. Looking forward to your reply. Take care. Yours sincerely, Alex

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
