You travelled by a long distance bus recently and your suitcase was damaged. Write a letter to the bus company. In your letter •Inform the bus company of when and to where you travelled •Describe your suitcase and what happened to it •Explain why the company should pay for a new suitcase

Dear Sir or Madam, I used your bus service from Lisbon to Porto yesterday and I'm writing to inform you of the damage to my suitcase. Because I bought
this
suitcase
last
weekend and it was my first time to use, it didn't have any damage or spots when I left it with your employee at the bus station.
However
, when I arrived at the destination and tried to open the bag, I realized that the left side of it is dented and couldn't open smoothly. Since
this
dent was made when the employees carried it to the warehouse, please compensate me for the cost of repairing my bag. I attach the invoice of repairing service and a picture of my damaged bag.
Also
, I write the detail of the bus service which I used below: Booking reference number : 1234567 Date of departure: 9th of May Destination: From Lisbon to Porto Name of booking: Ayaka Hioki I would be grateful if you could get the problem as soon as possible. Yours faithfully, Hioki Ayaka

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
