In the past, the role of a teacher was to provide information. Today, students have access to a lot of information. There is, therefore, no role for teacher in modern education. Do you agree or disagree?

are able to access a lot of

in different ways and some people argue that there is no role for

in modern education.

However

, I disagree with it because I think the role of a teacher is more than providing

information

. Without any doubt, with the advancement in technology,

children

can get a huge amount of resources without any help from adults when they are able to connect to the Internet . Once they type in some keywords in the search engine on the Internet, a huge amount of related

information

about the topic that they searched for will pop out. They can learn a wide range of topics that they are interested in through different online platforms like Wikipedia.

However

, never should we overlook that there are a multitude of drawbacks if we allow

students

to learn without any guidance provided by

teachers

. The first problem that I can think of is that

children

have impressionable minds and they may be easily affected by inappropriate messages,

information

and values in the virtual world. Everyone can leave a message and comment in the virtual world. Kids may not know how to distinguish what is right and wrong

while

they are reading a lot of

information

on the web,and

hence

, they may need to use a lot of

time

to filter the

information

and there is a chance that teenagers will learn some fake knowledge from the web.

On the contrary

teachers

always prepare study

materials

for

students

and they would make sure all the

materials

are related to their study and the

information

in the

materials

is correct ,

students

' studying efficacy can be increased.

Also

besides

passing academic knowledge to the

students

teachers

are

also

responsible for teaching

students

different life

skills

at school, ranging from

time

management

skills

and stress management

skills

to communication

skills

. These

skills

are vital for

children

's development and they could not simply learn them through reading books or surfing the Internet. An experienced teacher would be able to know what kind of education methods and

materials

could help his

students

in the best way and he could always adjust his teaching method from

time

in order to fit the needs of different

children

and

this

definitely could not be replaced by a computer or mobile phone. In conclusion,

although

students

are able to access different

information

in various ways without the help of

teachers

, I still believe

teachers

have an important and irreplaceable role in education.
