The company you work for has decided to close the cafeteria, as the staff is not using it much. You are not happy with the decision. Write a letter to the director. Give reasons of low usage. How will it affect the staff? Suggest ways to improve it.

Dear Director, I am writing
this
letter to show my disagreement with the decision to close the cafeteria within the company premises. My name is Arshdeep Kaur and I am working in the Sales Department of your company. I and my colleagues visit the food court 3 - 4 times a week and most of the staff members in our department are not happy with
this
decision. I firmly believe that if the management improves the condition
instead
of closing it
then
it will be a good decision. To illustrate, I remember that
this
cafeteria used to be crowded a couple of years ago, but now it seems like a haunted place. The reason behind
this
is that only a handful of employees are working nowadays and it takes ages to serve a customer.
Moreover
, before there are four microwaves where employees can reheat their food but now three are out of service. So, there is a long wait in line just to use the microwave. Because of the limited staff, nobody takes care of the dining area. Garbagees are overflowing in rush hour, tables look dirty, that's why workers avoid going and sitting during the break. If management closes
this
cafeteria
then
there will be no place in the company where staff members can rejuvenate in their free time.
Furthermore
, it becomes the reason for unemployment for those workers who still work hard to run
this
location. I would like to suggest that authorities should hire some more workers who can make the service fast and take care of proper hygiene.
Additionally
, it will be great if they can add a few more tables and chairs outside the lounge. After following these points, I think that it will be a cheerful place again. Hoping for your kind consideration of
this
suggestion from your side. Yours faithfully, arsh

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 150 words in writing task 1. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long letter will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 160 to 190 words in writing task 1. This will ensure a concise letter and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 20 minutes to write the letter and you need around 5 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long letter in 15 minutes.
