I am Nurlaila Sahara Worabay. In 2021, I have completed my bachelor's degree in the field of
Chemistry
Education from Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta,
Indonesia
. During my study, I was active as a
research
and
community
service assistant at
Chemistry
Education Department.
This
responsibility taught me much about the application and usefulness of
chemistry
for society.
Moreover
, I was
also
active in participating in some competitions regarding
to Remove the preposition
show examples
scientific writing and publishing journals.
During competitions, I often raise the topic of
waste
plastic which is an environmental trouble that has become a big problem in the
water
ecosystem of
Indonesia
. In 2021, World Population Review reported that
Indonesia
is in the fifth position of the most contributor of
waste
plastic in the world with as many as 56.333 tons.
My interest in
waste
cases has grown since I conducted
research
collaboration with the Environmental science and
Chemistry
Department in 2019. I have
also
participated in volunteer activities at ECONUSA (Nature-Culture-Conservation) 2020 and WALHI 2019.
Besides
, I have experience visiting and observing about series of activities in some industries like Yakult and Cimory. When I joined the activities, I found that
waste
troubles ,particularly plastics
due to
lacking knowledge and the expensive of green materials.
Whereas
, social awareness is very crucial to increase their motivation to care about the environment.
Thus
, environmentalists, NGOs, and government need to work together to empower the
community
.
This
can increase societies' motivation to decline using plastic
waste
and encourage the
community
to care about the environment
Realizing the importance of awareness for
waste
troubles, I would like to pursue my education at the MSc Environmental Science University of Wageningen as the aim of
this
study is to produce environmental scientists with an interdisciplinary background who have the ability to cope with various environmental issues to reduce the severe effect in the future.
Besides
,
this
program is ranked as one of the top environmental science in Europe.
This
program would develop my knowledge and problems solving as an environmental scientist to an advanced level. Meanwhile, it provides compulsory courses
such
as MSc Thesis
Water
Systems and Global Change and Modelling Future
Water
Stress.
Besides
I can take at least two optional courses
such
as; Climate Change Adaptation in
Water
Management, and Natural Hazards and Disasters.
Furthermore
,
this
study
also
opens more opportunities for me to obtain experience and expose me to international networks. I will conduct my
research
with a topic related to the concept of reducing pollution by using eco-friendly materials through the dissertation project.
After studying in
this
program, I will be able to arrange a career as a lecturer at my campus with polymer expertise.
In addition
, I will create a polymer
research
group that gathers students, practitioners, and academics to focus on the invention and innovation of eco-friendly materials to reduce using conventional polymers.
Besides
, I could devote myself to joining the
community
towards ECONUSA through campaigns and socialization about the effects of pollution on humans and other microorganisms. I hope to be in the future to contribute to
Indonesia
’s efforts to produce a better environment toward a free pollution

.
