Online shopping is replacing the shopping in stores. Do you think it is positive or negative?

Shopping through the internet has become a popular trend in modern society. It not only makes the procurement process more convenient but
also
smoothens the shopping process and enhances the consumer experience.
However
, the associated consequences of
this
trend might be the difficulty for local
businesses
to survive
due to
the loss of
customers
. In
this
essay, I will discuss both views and give my opinion on why I support moving shopping to online platforms.
First,
buying items online is undeniably more convenient than commuting for several hours to get them in stores. It does not only save time for the
customers
to travel to the stores but
also
reduces the time to listen to a sales lady persuading them to buy something other than the original item. Take ASOS as an example, a famous online clothing platform, where
customers
can purchase any clothing item without any interruption from a salesperson. In a sense, cybershopping has undoubtedly enhanced the greater autonomy of buyers.
Hence
, it made the shopping experiences more comfortable and satisfying for the clients.
By contrast
, the increasing number of people transferring to the online platform for shopping implies that there will be a detrimental impact on local
businesses
. They might simply face problems with the lack of
customers
to shop at their local stores, which
consequently
leads to issues with sustaining the shop. Facing the high store rent in Hong Kong, most of the local
businesses
had no choice but to shut down
due to
a reduced number of in-house shoppers.
As a result
, local shops or brands started to vanish in the city, suggesting the rise of online shopping harm local
businesses
. Personally, I believe that the benefits of buying things online trump the downsides, despite it might weaken local
businesses
. From a consumer perspective, online shopping is definitely less time-consuming and allows us to make our own choices other than being placed under pressure by a salesperson. In conclusion, e-shopping is certainly a better option not only because it makes the lives of consumers easier but
also
because it allows them to make choices based on their own preferences and needs.
Although
the transformation of the ways of buying things may have a negative impact on local
businesses
, it is indeed an advancement in the sales industry.
