The pie charts below show the percentages of expenditure on different items in the USA.
Presented are the two pie charts demonstrating the changes in the proportion of consumption of different categories in the USA over the timescale of 30 years commencing1966.
Overall
, food topped the list in both years surveyed, whilst computers made up the smallest proportion.
Also
noteworthy is that reduced expenses spent on cars and eating out were accounted for by increments in expenditure on food and books. As transparent from the chart, the percentage of expenditure on food accounted for the lion’s share of well over two-fifths (44%) in 1996, followed by cars with 23%, more than half of the latter. Spending on furniture, petrol, restaurants and books consisted of similar proportions, ranging from 6% - 10%, leaving the remaining share at merely 1% for computers. In the following 30 years, foodstuff remained retained its dominant position, with a negligible increase of 1%.
Likewise
, there was a marginal rise in spending on petrol (by 5%), restaurants (by 1%) and a dramatic two-fold increase in spending on books,
while
the figures for furniture and computers remained constant.
By contrast
, the figure for cars went into a decline, registering a fall of 15%.
