The mobile phone
is quite sentimental to me as it belonged to my mother. It was the only thing she had left for me before she passed away, and it contains many of the photos we had taken together. As I was extremely close with my mother, losing the phone
has been very saddening.
Therefore
, I would be really grateful if your staff could help me check the room or the lost and found to see if the mobile is there.
If you do find the mobile phone
, would you mind sending it to my address: 5 Kent Street.

The Greeting
Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.
Always start an informal letter in the ways:
- Dear + name
- Hi / Hello + name
‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.
For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:
- Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
- Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
