There is a public event coming up in your town. Write a letter to your friend who you think would be interested to take part in it.

Hello Janie, Hope you’re doing great and I believe work has been great. I am writing to you about a couples program which will be held next month in my church. It’s a valentines program arranged for young couples on building their marriage, trusting their partners and ways to make a marriage work. I think you would like to attend
this
event considering what you discuss with me the
last
time we spoke. It will be helpful and I believe it will enable you to understand more about married life and how best to manage conflicts in marriage. I will
also
be attending the program. Though a date has not been communicated to us

it’s surely happening next month. I will make sure to forward the date and address to you once it’s been stated. I hope for a swift and positive response from you and my regards to your big baby. Best regards, Topsy.

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
