Today we can see overconsumption of natural resources such as air, fresh water, and oil and so on. The usage is increasing as a very dangerous pace and is already reaching critical levels. What are the reasons contributing to this? What should be done to minimize this?

Scarcity is a characteristic common to all
resources
. Since there is not a single category that can be found in unlimited supply, it is our duty as humans to both protect and restore the natural
resources
the
planet
Earth has to offer. The consumption of elements
such
as fresh water and clean air is mainly related to our living standards. Water
for example
is used in many manufacturing processes,
while
pollutants are released into the atmosphere during combustion. The latter fuels the majority of electric grids that light our cities, so is correlated with human activity. If it is necessary to find a solution there are two drastic approaches to the issue.
Firstly
, humanity can modify its way of living.
This
would reduce the consumption of natural
resources
and protect them.
Secondly
, the number of humans decreases.
In other words
, governments adopt over-population reduction measures, to ensure a decrease in the number of inhabitants of the
planet
.
While
the first solution seems reasonable, the second one tackles fundamental human rights, so shall be discarded. It is important to reduce humanity's impact on the
planet
in order to save as many
resources
as possible. Bolstering recycling policies or funding alternative energetic sources, are among all the options on the table. Reducing voracious trends like fast fashion would
also
help.
At the end
of the day our
planet
is like our home, so we ought to ensure its well-being. Considering that in the case the earth would die, we would
also
perish with it.
