A large company in your area has decided to spend a certain amount of money, either to sponsor a local children’s sports team for two years, or to pay for two open-air concerts. It has asked for feedback from the general public. Write a letter to the company. In your letter, describe the benefits of sponsoring the sports team summarise the benefits of paying for the concerts say how you think the company should spend the money Write at least 150 words.

Hello Micheal, I will like to express my appreciation towards the plan to either sponsor our local team, West Brom Academy or bring two open-air concerts to the community. Surprisingly, both ideas come with long-term benefits and I think helping the club will be most beneficial.
Firstly
, the local team, West Brom Academy is a growing soccer team from our district, which has impacted the lives of many young people. Asides from helping many young lads stay off crime in the community, they have been producing exceptional players who have attracted scouts from big clubs in the country. Some of them are currently playing international football. Funding the club will help them get access to quality infrastructure
such
as a football pitch and locker rooms for training and theoretical sports development.
Furthermore
, paying for two big open-air concerts will bring the community together, which will increase the bond between neighbours.
Also
, it will certainly be a fun time for people to relax and have fun; dancing to the loud music and jumping in excitement to their favourite artists and bands. In my opinion, investing in the soccer academy will help the district keep young people from committing crimes.
This
decision has seen the number of street fights and thefts along the aisles of the city reduced tremendously, which can be linked to the increasing number of young teenagers joining the club with the hope of playing international football. In conclusion, I hope these few points will steer the sponsorship committee in the right direction. Please, don't hesitate to reach out to me if you need more guidance. I can be reached through my email at [email protected] or my number at +23470000000000. Best regards, Philip

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 150 words in writing task 1. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long letter will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 160 to 190 words in writing task 1. This will ensure a concise letter and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 20 minutes to write the letter and you need around 5 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long letter in 15 minutes.
