some people say material possessions are very useful in bringing us happpiness, but others argue that they are useless in terms of providing happiness. discuss both views and give your opinion and reasons

There are controversial opinions about whether material
possessions
may give
happiness
or not. In my opinion, objects are unlikely to provide some real
happiness
, but they are certainly useful to get over difficult moments and situations. First of all, I would argue that the gist of
happiness
is not the same for every individual.
Therefore
, some
people
may benefit from having many material
possessions
more than others. The most valuable
possessions
,
such
as houses and cars and jewels, can be useful to live a more comfortable life and to feel satisfied.
For instance
, being the proprietor of a house and of a car allows the owners to avoid bothering to find accommodation or to struggle for commuting and travel.
Likewise
,
people
who own smartphones, brand-new televisions and the most efficient household appliances certainly live a more comfortable life compared to others who do not have them.
On the other hand
,
happiness
does not come out of possessing things. Owning many objects does not prevent
people
from being unhappy
,

also
what actually fulfils the feeling of
happiness
, which is being loved and staying healthy.
People
who own many things, as long as they suffer from severe or chronic diseases, are not happy.
Likewise
, many poor
people
with very good marriages and lovely children are happy, even though they do not own plenty of gadgets and goods. On the whole, I think that material
possessions
might help
people
to reach some
happiness
, but only when they have love and health in their lives. Despite owning many pleasant and comfortable
possessions
,
people
who feel lonely and who suffer do not succeed in replacing the psychological and physical pains with material things.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
