in Australian universities in two specific years (2001 and 2010). These students

Overall
, the amounts of both local and international research students
increased between 2001 and 2010, substantially tripling for the international students
yet going up about 17% for the local ones.
The year 2001 and 2010 showed the same pattern that the local research students
were higher than the international ones, about 7 and less than 3 times respectively. The value of local students
, in terms of percentage, declined from 87 per cent
in 2001 to 73 per cent
in 2010.
The proportion between males and females of the local students
was balanced while
the male was significantly higher than the female for the international ones, barely 2 times. In contrast
, there was a factor of 3 per cent
between international males and females due to
the dominance of females. The figures for the local male and female students
slightly decreased, starting out at the same value of 43 per cent
and ending at 39 and 35 per cent
