More and more people buy a wide range of household goods like television sets, microwave ovens and rice cookers. Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

With the advancement of technology and the development of the economy,
people
have become richer than before. Household
appliances
used to be luxury goods, but now their prices have fallen, making the penetration rate of household
appliances
higher.
As a result
, more
people
buy all kinds of
home
appliances
. Some
people
view buying
appliances
as a negative development,
while
others hold the opposite view. In my opinion, the advantages of buying
home
appliances
outweigh the disadvantages. On the one hand, the prices of today's
home
appliances
are becoming more and more expensive, but the general public has the ability to afford these commodities.
This
stimulates consumers' consumption desires and
further
promotes economic development. Another advantage of buying
appliances
is that
it
Correct pronoun usage

can improve efficiency and save
time
. Rice cookers can save housewives cooking
time
, allowing them to make more delicious meals in a limited
time
. Microwave ovens are more efficient than ordinary pots, allowing for quick meal preparation or food reheating.
Additionally
, purchasing
home
appliances
such
as vacuum cleaners, dishwashers, or washing machines can effectively reduce housework
time
.
For example
, a vacuum cleaner can sweep the floor more cleanly than a broom, and housewives don't have to worry about heavy housework, which is very helpful for family life.
On the other hand
, more and more
people
buy
home
appliances
, which consume a lot of energy and generate a lot of garbage. If the harmful substances in some garbage are not properly disposed of, they will continue to pollute the environment and cause many environmental problems that are difficult to solve.
In addition
, after buying
appliances
, much housework that originally required
people
to do can be done by machines, and
people
will become lazier and less active, leading to obesity.
Overall
, the advantages of buying
home
appliances
outweigh the disadvantages.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
