Some people say that computer can translate languages, so children need not study foreign languages anymore. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this?

Computer
technology has greatly developed to the level where (in which) they are actually able to translate our
languages
.
Accordingly
, there is an opinion that no longer, the burden of learning foreign
languages
should be put on the shoulder of our
children
at school. Personally,
however
, I disagree with
this
opinion, for despite their innovative capabilities in many fields, computers still possess inevitable limits in dealing with complex human
languages
. At
first,
the abilities of computers are imperfect, making unpredictable issues. When people translate
languages
by using their
computer
translators, they might experience several technical problems
such
as being out of
computer
batteries, not working suddenly, and many more. In fact, nowadays, even though people do not know about other
languages
, they just visit other countries, depending on Google Translate.
However
,
while
travelling, they often face a difficult situation because of problems with
computer
translators. What is more, they may make mistakes since they cannot catch human beings’ intention of talking or nuance in detail.
This
might cause miscommunications and deteriorate relationships between people.
In other words
, machines that human beings invented still have indispensable limits.
Moreover
, learning
languages
could help
children
to improve other abilities that
children
need.
Firstly
,
this
enables kids to develop their mother tongue effectively.
Children
may expand numerous vocabulary and expressions of sentences by learning a second
language
.
This
will affect their studying their first
language
in a positive way.
Also
, studying another
language
encourages
children
to experience other cultures.
For instance
,
children
use plenty of methods when they learn other
languages
from watching foreign movies to meeting international friends.
This
would get rid of the prejudice of other cultures.
Lastly
, learning
languages
play an important role in making studying habits. Kids are supposed to study on a regular basis to use second
languages
fluently.
This
leads them to study other subjects consistently, which could be a good studying habit. A conclusion reached is that I believe all
children
should be given constant opportunities to expand their
language
abilities by learning various
languages
due largely to the well-documented restrictions computers have and the potential benefits of acquiring
languages
. In the coming decades,
computer
technology is expected to grow
further
and advance in our lives;
hence
, we, humans are
also
requested to continue developing our innate natures and capabilities.

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 250 words in writing task 2. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long essay will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 260 to 290 words in writing task 2. This will ensure a concise essay and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 40 minutes to write the essay and you need around 10 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long essay in 30 minutes.
