In a number of countries, some people think it is necessary to spend large sums of money on constructing new railway lines for very fast trains between cities. Others believe the money should be spent on improving existing public transport. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Transport is a vital issue which affects many industries, from tourism to day-to-day office work,

therefore

careful consideration must be carried out when deciding where the funds must go. In my view, resources should be allocated to improving the existing public transport, rather than constructing new railway lines,

due to

the desperate need in the former sphere. On the one hand, constructing new railway lines can be quite beneficial as it can get people from A to B much faster and so is more efficient - an example of

this

is the HS2

that is

being built in the UK, which will reduce travel time from Manchester to London drastically. It

also

acts as an attraction for visitors of the country to come and see the new technology and provides new jobs and income for locals.

On the other hand

, there is already an infrastructure in place for development. Take
