The Diagram below describes the Water cycle and how water is used in Australia. Write an academic report indicating the main features and how they are inter-related.
The diagram portrays the natural
water
cycle and shows how water
is harnessed and then
used for urban purposes in a typical Australian city.
Initially
, the sun heats the Earth, causing extensive evaporation of surface water
and transpiration from the surfaces of plants and trees. This
is best illustrated by the evaporation of water
from the surface of a lake behind a dam which produces steam. The steam then
rises into the atmosphere, and after cooling, forms clouds. The wind causes the clouds to gather in the mountains and higher areas above the dam, where it starts to rain. The rain causes rivers and streams to flow down the mountains into the lake where the water
is stored.
The water
stored in the lake is then
pumped to a water
filtration plant near the town, after being filtered, is sent into another pumping station where it is pumped into a temporary reservoir before being used by the community. The community's wastewater is then
collected and sent to a wastewater treatment plant where the biosolids are separated.Submitted by maryam.veiszadeh on
