The diagram below shows the manufacturing process for making sugar from sugar cane. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. Write at least 150 words.
The pictures given below depict the 7 steps of harvesting sugarcane till
sugar
crystal formation.
Overall
, the main care for plants is to be given in the initial stage of 12-18 months provided that a good harvest depends on the quantity and quality of the sugar
cane. The following steps are harvesting, crushing, purifying the juice, evaporating the juice, separating sugar
crystals from syrup
, and finally
drying and cooling the syrup
.
Initially
, farmers plant the sugar
cane stems in their agricultural land then
take huge care by giving manure and growing it for 12- 18 months. When the plant reaches almost 16 or 17 months farmers plan for harvesting, they harvest using a combine harvester or just by hand. After that the stems are crushed and juice is extracted, later on, it is purified with a limestone filter. Moving on to the next step the extract is heated in a chamber to form as a syrup
. Moving ahead the syrup
is then
rotated in a centrifuge forming sugar
crystals. Finally
, the crystals are sent for drying and cooling down.Submitted by Leena Kapoor on
