Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The bar chart compares the proportions of travel to and from school by children aged between 5 to 12 years in two different years, 1990 and 2010.
Overall
it can be seen that the most popular mode of transportation in 1990 was cars,
while
the majority of students travelled to and from school on foot. It is
also
clear that the other modes of transportation were more popular in 1990 than those in 2010. In 1990, over 4
million
used cars for transportation,
whereas
this
number peaked at around 11
million
in 2010. In 1990, the largest number of children went to school and came back home on foot, more than 12
million
.
This
number dropped by nearly half in 2010, to approximately 6
million
. in 1990 around 6
million
rode bicycles,
however
, it plummeted to a third in 2010. The other ways of commuting showed a moderate change. Those who walked and got on the buses from 6
million
in 1990 dropped to 3
million
in 2010, and students who travelled by bus in 2010 was 1
million
lower than those in 1990.
