the charts below show the number of workplace injuries, per year, at a factory and the action that where taken to reduce injuries, beaween 1985 and 1995.
The charts below illustrate the data collected from a factory regarding the
number
of people injured at the workplace per year from 1988 to 1995,
as well as
the actions taken in order to reduce the
number
of
injuries
.
Overall
, the highest
number
of
injuries
are observed in 1990, 1991, 1992 and 1995, with an increase from 20 to 60. Interestingly, all the actions taken in order to reduce trauma actually resulted in an increased
number
of
injuries
.
For example
, in 1990, new machines were introduced, which led to an increase in
injuries
from 20 to 60. The following year, in 1991, another action was taken, but the
number
of
injuries
remained high. It was only in 1993 when training classes were implemented for all staff, that the
number
of
injuries
slightly decreased from 60 to 30.
However
,
this
decrease was short-lived as a new action was taken in 1995 to replace the classes with a training manual, resulting in a rise in
injuries
to 60.
