You were invited to go out by your friend. Due to some reason you couldn’t go. Write a letter apologizing for this and suggest a new time and place to meet. In your letter, you should: apologize explain reasons on why you can’t make it suggest a new time and place to meet.

Hello Hung, I am writing to apologise for the cannot go out with you. I am so glad you invited me to go out. Currently, I cannot leave the house because I am very busy for learning the IELTS exam. I have to pass the exam in two weeks for the working visa application. You know, I have not used English for a long time.
Therefore
, it is quite difficult for me to do the tests. Is it OK for you if we change a new time after two weeks and another place? I see a cafe near your house. I went to
this
cafe before and I feel so delicious. I think we can come here. I hope you are happy and understand. Yours sincerely, Hieu

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 150 words in writing task 1. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long letter will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 160 to 190 words in writing task 1. This will ensure a concise letter and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 20 minutes to write the letter and you need around 5 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long letter in 15 minutes.
