The two maps below show the changes that have taken place in the town of Westley since 1815.
The maps compare the
town
of Westley in 1815 and this
time.
The maps depict compare of the town
of Westley in 1815 and nowadays.
At first glance, there is now a new housing estate, two new residential areas, a train station, and the road system has been extended. There are more modern facilities now in Westley, and most of the buildings are different; however
, the town
hall and the market square have remained the same.
As can be seen, in 1815, a house area surrounded the town
hall, market square, and fields on the map's southwest. The Lenton
woods and Lake Lenton
stood out in the middle of the town
, with a church nearby. In addition
, there is a bridge with a way to London which crosses the River Terine near The Coach Inn.
As observed, currently, there are no fields, and the woods have been cut down, turning into Lenton
Housing Estate, enclosed by The Lake Lenton
, West Gate Shopping Centre, which replaced a church, and the Museum and Sports Centre, where there was the Coach Inn. Furthermore
, the cinema is where the road was extended, close to the Main Railway Station that crosses the river. A shopping, business, and residential area are at the end
of the road.Submitted by rmantunes on
