In spite of technological developments in transportation, many people believe that a bicycle is the best way to reach in any destination. What are the advantages and disadvantages of using a bicycle nowadays?

As transportation has evolved over the past century, people have moved from bullock carts to autonomous cars. And today, owing to the plethora of options, each person has their own opinion about which is the best way to reach any destination. Concurrently, in spite of there being merits and demerits of using a bicycle as the sole means of
transport
, some people still feel that a bike is the best mode of
transport
to reach any destination. Evidently, using bicycles is very helpful for the environment as there is no usage of petrol or electricity and neither any emission of harmful gases.
This
makes biking
one
of the most eco-friendly options.
Furthermore
, as biking needs human energy it is
also
a good way to stay fit and in shape.
For instance
, a 30-minute ride can help you knock off as much as 250 calories depending on the terrain, which is almost equivalent to an hour-long workout.
In addition
, cycling is not only a cheaper option but it is
also
much safer. In a study by the University of Berkeley, they found out the ratio of bicycle accidents to car accidents is 1:10, which makes bicycling much safer than driving.
On the other hand
,
one
cannot cycle everywhere. If the destination is more than 50 kilometres away cycling would be an inappropriate choice,
due to
the time it would consume and the energy it would need. Not only that,
one
cannot use it for every occasion as it is vulnerable to weather changes.
For instance
, if it is scorching hot or raining and you have to go to an important client meeting you cannot risk going there drenched in sweat or being wet by rain.
This
eventually makes you dependent on other modes of
transport
such
as buses, cabs and trains. Conclusively,
while
there are many benefits of using a bicycle as a primary mode of
transport
, there is
also
a fair share of cons.
One
might eventually be dependent on other means of
transport
from time to time, in order to overcome these flaws.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
