The bar chart illustrates the proportion of families residing in owned and rented accommodation in England and Wales from the years 1981 to 2011.
Overall
, it was seen that most households owned their buildings and people living in rented quarters went the opposite directions,
that is
while
landlords increased throughout the period, the accommodation rent decreases at the same time.
Firstly
, in the year 1918 to 1961, apartment owners were not common in these countries. it begin at the rate of 20%, which increased to 30% in 1939 and stayed at that level for a few years before topping up to 40% in the year 1961.
Then
took a huge turn from the year 1971, when it experienced a steady rise from 50% which continued to add up to where it reached its peak at 70% in 2001 and
also
had a slight reduction of 5% in 2011.
In contrast
, from the chart, the households living in rented quarters have a higher percentage from the onset in both countries, which is above 70%,
then
had a sudden drop of 10% for one and half decades. In 1963 the rate was about 60% on hired apartments,
this
saw a continuous fall for about 3 decades to 30% in 1991 where it remained constant till 2011 and
also
topped a little above 30% In comparison, both countries ( England and Wales) have similar trends in quarters owners and hired houses, which took a totally opposite direction.
