growth is predicted to continue, with Japan overtaking Sweden and the USA. Both the USA and Sweden experienced fluctuations and they went from having less than 10% of the population aged 65 and over in 2010, to having 16% and 18% in 2022 respectively.

, they were projected to grow rapidly until reaching a percentage at roughly 25.

On the contrary

, Japan has always had the lowest percentage of the population over 65, from 1940 to 2002 the numbers were lower than 5%.
